2.  “LEONARDO & LUINI, THE MASTER AND HIS MOST TALENTED PUPIL”

After visiting Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper and nearby church of St. Maria delle Grazie, tour will continue at former Benedictine convent of S. Maurizio where Bernardino Luini, one of Leonardo’s most talented followers, painted in the early 16th century a cycle of frescoes of extraordinary beauty that still enchant visitors centuries after. 3.  "LEONARDO & THE SFORZAS- INTRIGUES AND MYSTERIES AT COURT"

Before - or after - visiting  Leonardo’s Last Supper and adjacent Church of St. Maria delle Grazie with it’s sumptuous major chapel, planned by  architect Bramante to celebrate the glories of Duke Ludovico il Moro, who envisaged it at his family’s tomb, we will reach on foot - with a pleasant 15 minute walk - the impregnabile Sforza Castle. The former fortress was turned into the most sumptuous of Renaissance residences in the mid 15 th century. Here we will discover the dark side of the court where mysteries and intrigues, jealousy and revenge, family plots and courtly scheming, incautious alliances and secret affairs, marriages of convenience and adulterine relationships were the main ingredients of every day life.

4.  “LEONARDO & MICHELANGELO – TWO OUSIDERS IN ONE MUSEUM”

This tour highlights two outsiders of the Italian Renaissance both featured in the Museum of Ancient Art of the Sforza Castle. The divine sculptor versus the sublime painter. After visiting Leonardo’s Last Supper we will admire the illusionistic tree decoration that the artist  conceived for the Hall of Boards within Ludovico il Moro’s residence and -  last but not least  we will admire the struggling and poignant late Pietà by Michelangelo, left unfinished in 1564 by the dying artist.
